Bachelor’s in Hotel Management is one of the most sought out degree. With this degree some of the job prospects are hotels and restaurant managers, catering institutes, tourism associations, hotel and managers, accommodation managers and chefs. So with this degree you have a lot of options to explore in the job markets. This degree is usually a 4 year course which includes a 6 month/1 year internship within Nepal or an internship abroad depending on where you decide to study. There are a number of good colleges and universities offering these courses which you will be able to search for at without much difficulty. There are also various diploma courses and short specialized programs.


About the course

The courses offered are a business degree with a focus on tourism, hotel management, finance, accounting, human resource management, and culinary skills. During the 4 year course you will get an idea of how hotels and restaurants work, management skills. The colleges that offer hotel management have facilities which include commercial kitchens, mock hotel rooms as practical courses. Theory courses include entrepreneurial classes, tourism, housekeeping, food and beverages management, information system management and many more courses.


Entry requirements for this course includes 50% or more in +2 or at least 3 in A-level subjects. You also must have the ability to understand and speak English. For admissions the colleges may also take entrances exams, interviews and group discussions to find fitting candidates. Some of the colleges that offer this course in Nepal are Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM), International School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Academy of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management, Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management, South Asian School of Tourism and Hotel Management (SASTHM). These colleges are affiliated with Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University and Purbanchal University, International Teaching University of Georgia, UCSI University in Malaysia, Salzburg University of Applied Sciences.



Now with the introduction of “Visit Nepal 2020” by the Government of Nepal with the plan to increase tourism, more courses have been introduced to build necessary human capital for this sector. Not only for Visit Nepal 2020, but hotel and tourism management is already a growing phenomenon, hence has the increasing coursed available.
